Cedric Burnside

“If you’re tired of typical I-IV-V fare, Cedric just might be your man, and Benton County Relic might be the tonic you’ve been wanting.” —Premier Guitar

“Fusing delta and hill country with elements of jam-band rock, he and his drummer packed an incredible punch, and never let the momentum die down.” —Nashville Scene

“It’s a song about strength, resilience, and hope that shows there’s a lot of life left in the classic country blues sound.”—AFROPUNK

“This is the real blues, none of this SRV-related wannabe crap. No, this is the blues stripped bare, with droning guitars and gruff vocals singing about “Death Bell Blues” and “Ain’t Gonna Take No Mess”. In a word… perfect.” —Ink 19

“Benton County Relic will stand the test of time. 9/10” —Glide Magazine

“The Big Bad Burnside Sound is back… and how!”—MOJO

“Cedric's music, though, is no mere retread of the past; connected intimately to his own life, each song feels like it has been hewn from his soul.” —Clash Magazine

“That sound on Benton County Relic, due out Sept. 14, is spare, spacious and gritty but with a biting timeless flavor that makes the 12-song set more than just a slavish homage.” —Billboard

“Although Hill Country Blues is decades old, Burnside’s interpretation of the genre cuts deeper than most modern takes.” —American Blues Scene

Whiskey Bent Valley Boys

Louisville, KY

The Whiskey Bent Valley Boys' sound will take you through the hills of Kentucky, bearing all the centuries-old stories, traditions and liquor those hills contain. The band's old-time sound delivers an intensity that would knock the socks rightoff their forefathers' feet.

Hailing from Seattle, The Dip is an electrifying seven-piece ensemble that melds vintage rhythm and blues and modern pop with 60s soul, tapped by KEXP as “one of the most exciting and joyous acts to emerge in recent years”. The group quickly gained notoriety throughout the Pacific Northwest for their eminently danceable live shows that feature vocals from frontman Tom Eddy (Beat Connection), an effortlessly deep pocket, and the melodies of the “The Honeynut Horns”. Hard-hitting but sensitive, The Dip harkens back to the deep soul roots of decades past while sounding undeniably relevant. The band's 2015 self-titled debut, recorded to tape at Avast! Studios, propelled them to notable appearances at Sasquatch! Music Festival, High Sierra Music Fest, Summer Meltdown, and Capitol Hill Block Party and built anticipation for their 2016 release, Won’t Be Coming Back (EP). Now, the band prepares to arrive on the national stage with their second LP, The Dip Delivers. There’s a certain alchemy to The Dip that unites music fans of all ages and backgrounds and leaves everyone smiling ear to ear.”

“A vocally-oriented string-band that offers an eclectic blend of traditional and contemporary bluegrass music.”

High Water Drifters

xx, OH

SaturDAY, main STAGE

What happens when four Ohio acoustic musicians assemble a band to perform original and traditional roots music? Well, people dance, clap, and sing, a lot. This is the basis for High Water Drifters. High Water Drifters jam original and traditional tunes with all manner of banjos, washboards, mandolins, fiddle, guitars, upright bass, and a stomp box.

Woody Pines

Nashville, TN

5:00–5:45PM; 7:30–8:15PM

The music of Nashville troubadour Woody Pines comes from the streets—it was on the streets as a professional busker where Woody first cut his teeth. Pines' music draws liberally from the lost back alley anthems and scratchy old 78s of American roots music, whether country blues, jugband, hokum, or hillbilly—heavy rollicking street performances are central to Woody's intensely catchy rhythms, jumpy lyrics and delirious sense of fun.

Denison Bluegrass Ensemble

Granville, OH

The Denison Bluegrass ensemble is a Denison University class that offers students of all skill levels and opportunity to interact, perform and learn about traditional bluegrass and American Root Music.
